A Blind Witch's Tale: Part 1

now had three of the five pieces of the Mystograph: the Cube, the Octahedron, the Tetrahedron. I listed them in the order I found them, not on how they go together. The Tetrahedron is the smallest piece, it's also different because it is not made of metal, instead it is made of Monas stone, or Seraph stone. The Tetrahedron is the power plant of the Mystograph. The Tetrahedron fits inside the Cube, which fits inside the Octahedron, and so on. The Cube and the Octahedron are made of a dark metal which is not found on Earth. or anywhere in our Solar System. Seraph stone is the rarest element in our galaxy. It was only when I found the Tetrahedron that I discovered how to open the other pieces. You have to use the vibrations of the Serah stone to open the other pieces. I had an advantage in that I had swallowed a piece of Seraph stone, a piece called the Monas Stone which had given me the ability to travel between dimensions of Reality. Although it had a drawback the vibrations of the stone will destroy your eyes. That is why I now remove my prosthetic eyes before activating the power of the stone. Yeah, I had found out the hard way that the vibrations of the stone destroy eyes. It had destroyed my natural eyes which was not a big loss since I am totally blind anyway, but you know prosthetic eyes are expensive. Anyhow, since acquiring the Tetrahedron everything went quiet in the search for the other parts of the Mystograph. Which gave me time to work on my books. The first book "The Visual Bias in Thinking" was now published. What reviews it had were positive, but there was not a lot of interest in the book. I guess a blind woman critiquing the sighted world was not a topic on most people's minds. I was now working on my second book "Beyond Light and Dark" which is about light mythology and blindness. Again a critique of sighted mythology, literature, and pop. culture. Randal had made a comment that had inspired a whole line of inquiry for me. He had called me a blind witch. Well, you know, I am a blind witch, but the realization had gotten me thinking about all those blind witches in religion, mythology, and pop. culture. Why does the figure of the blind witch make such an impact on the sighted world? Sp what I have come up with is that sighted people project all their fears of the dark on blind people. Their fear of being helpless and vulnerable in the dark.Being in the dark to sighted people is like entering another world. Like, a very scary world. You know the dark is super scary for sighted people. A terrifying land where they are completely lost. The fear of the dark seems to me to be the most primal fear of sighted people. The fact that we do not have to rely on sight for our cues to navigate the world must be magical to sighted people. I mean, you know how they think even accomplishing the simplest task is amazing. I decided I needed to do a deeper examination of the figure of the blind witch. To do this I would need a new wardrobe. Also I am still working out with Jai which has given me a lean, sexy figure. I deserved a new wardrobe to show off my work. So I dragged Jai out in my shopping expeditions, which also drove her crazy. I started out with soome velour dresses, and blck slit skirts (thigh high), I also looked for gothic tops, and long jackets. My usual colors are black and red, but I decided to add some purple. I made some modifications, I got deep blood reds and burgundies. Well,of course, I needed all new accessories. So I bought some goth themed jewelry, mostly skulls and bats, with a few with sigils thrown in. All of it silver of course, I like the connection silver with the Moon and the eternal feminine. I also got new dark glasses, I picked out glasses with circular lenses, tinted black mirror and rose gold. I like the connection that circular lenses have with blindness, and they look unusual. And of course, new shoes. Mostly black heels, platforms, and even some of those Victorian lady boots. I really felt I needed to feel the part of the blind witch, and my new look was getting compliments. Anyhow, back to the Mystograph, after several months of nothing Randas called me to tell me that Hugo had some information for me. I really like, hate meeting Hugo, but there was nothing else to do. I accepted. So I again found myself wearing a white cotton robe in the basement of that Victorian mansion that is the location of "Hugo's" the store. Randal led me to the entrance to Hugo's creepy room. It was creepy as usual, we descended the twisting staircase, I have never gotten used to the staircase, it seems different each time, like it shifts. The room seemed wrong as usual, Randal navigated me to the spot where I was to wait for Hugo. I layed down prostrate, which I really hate doing. The room was even more creepy. Last time I had been here I noticed that the stone that made up the room was covered in pinprick sized holes. As I lay there I realized the holes were respirating, the room was breathing. Not all the holes at once they did not seem to have any rational pattern. Yes, the room just got creepier. It was not long after this discovery that Hugo appeared sitting on his stool above me. Every time I meet Hugo I get a better sense of his appearance. which adds to the creepiness. His writhing face tentacles, octopus head with four eyes, two on a side, oddly shaped humanoid body, and his dragon wings. Another thing about talking to Hugo I am never sure if we are talking or communicating telepathically. I think it is a mixture of both his speech was always arrogant and mocking. "So you are admiring my room? Hugo spoke, I grunted an affirmative reply and he continued: "The whole room is a living being that I bioengineered." I still don't know the extent of Hugo's powers, although I do not fear him like I used to. Unfortunately the question crossed my mind of what the room ate? Hugo was glad to tell me: "It feeds on blood (of course), have you not noticed how free from pests my store is? There are no insects, rats or mice for yards around." I decided I needed to change the topic, Hugo has more than one way to inspire nausea. So I asked: "What is it that brought me here?" Hugo answered: "Ahh, to the point. There is an opportunity of gaining another piece of the Mystograph, but it shall be dangerous." Hugo paused waiting for me to say something. I answered weakly, even though I was trying to sound confident: " I am interested!" Hugo continued in a pleased tome, it was getting obvious that Hugo wanted me to accept: " Good you are being offered a bargain by some agents of Nyarlathotep (Hugo said in a contemptuous tone. Hugo did not like Nyarlathotep and his followers.) They want to trade an Atlantean soul jar which holds dessicated dust of an ancient Greek by the name of Euthydides. Why they want it I do not know. Nyarlathotep (Hugo said his name in a tone of disgust.) plays games that can go on for centuries, or even millennia there only purpose is to amuse Nyarlathotep. And for some reason he wants you to be his agent in one of his games." I did not know what to say or even where to begin, but as always Hugo read my mind. "I know this is all new to you. An offer shall be made to you to examine some Atlantean soul jars. Your mission is to acquire the soul jar which contains the remains of Euthydides. Just remember who your allies are, for you shall have allies on this adventure. Alway remember where Nyarlathotep is involved, nothing is what it seems. Nyarlathotep has no honour, like the Great Cthulhu." And Hugo waited for my answer. It was not like I could refuse, so I said: "I am in!" Hugo continued: "Good, I have some gifts for you that should prove useful." Hugo got up and walked around me until he was facing my feet.I tried to move, well recoil, but I was paralyzed. Hugo grabbed and put on an anklet. His hands felt rubbery, and repellent. He then walked around me, and grabbed my right hand where he placed a ring, and finally he pulled back my head placing a necklace on my neck. My first thought was iif Hugo" gifts would match my other jewelry. Of course Hugo read my mind, and seemed to laugh. He said: No fear they match your style I designed, and made them myself. (Who knew Hugo had a fashion sense.) They are all made of a silvery metal with some sigils on them. The anklet has a charm on it that contains a red stone. iIt shall give you the power to be overlooked, notto be invisible. If you sit or stand in an inconspicuous place you shall be overlooked as long as you keep quiet and do not move. The ring is also silver with a sigil. It shall give you the power to identify Atlantean artifacts, and shall enhance your necromantic power, that shall become clear when you use it. Finally the necklace is a silver chain with a small vial containing a deep red liquid. The liquid has the power of restoring life to the dust in the soul jars, but you only have enough for one time. Use it wisely." And Hugo was gone. "
